In late 1985, four friends, all Mercedes model collectors, and Daimler-Benz employees, were discussing the upcoming festivities celebrating "One Hundred Years of the Automobile", due to take place in early 1986.

It was then they realized the lack of and need for a Mercedes-Benz model car enthusiasts club. Therefore, on February 2, 1986, the "Mercedes-Benz Modellauto-Club" (MBMC), was registered.

The Daimler-Benz AG Corporation, having encouraged the creation of the club, soon became a member of the MBMC, and officially recognized the club as the umbrella organization of all Mercedes-Benz model car clubs and branches worldwide.

Presently, there are six regional clubs in Germany and three international regional clubs as follows.

       (1.) North America/Canada
       (2.) Netherlands
       (3.) Australia

Currently there are over 500 members worldwide in the MBMC, from Belgium, Canada, France, Italy, Russia, UK, USA just to name a few.
